Are you 13-17 and passionate about the ocean?

Help us to create a diverse community of young people from across the globe who are enthusiastic about ocean science and conservation.

You don't need any prior experience or expert knowledge — just curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. Many of our past Ambassadors started with no background in marine science at all.

What You'll Do

Ocean Ambassadors will meet online once a month, where they will have the unique opportunity to connect with marine scientists and engage in eye-opening discussions.

We are looking for young people who are motivated to use their creativity and communication skills to help us spread positive messages about the ocean. Ocean Ambassadors will work with us to develop their own projects that promote ocean science and conservation, perhaps working with their school or in their local communities.

Past Ambassador projects have included school talks and workshops, beach cleanups, social media campaigns, fundraising events, and community art or storytelling initiatives — whatever format suits your interests and local community.

The programme is free to take part in.

Eligibility & Application Process

We are looking for people who are:

• Enthusiastic about ocean science and conservation and keen to learn more

• Good communicators, willing to use their creativity and communication skills to promote ocean science and conservation

• Confident communicating in English (both spoken and written forms)

• Comfortable with public speaking

• Aged between 13-17 years (with parental permission to join if under 16). You must be under 18 at the start of the programme in January 2027, meaning you must be 17 or younger on 1 January 2027 to be eligible to apply.

• Able to join an online call once a month on Saturdays

• Happy to commit to becoming an Ocean Ambassador for a 12-month period throughout 2027
